View from the kitchen window

My poor blog hasn’t been updated since Christmas! Well since then, I have been trying out different ways of working. Here is one of those experiments. Basically, I built a 3D version of a painting I did last year using paper and color pencils. Building this miniature version of my childhood home back in Brooklyn felt sort of therapeutic. I didn’t have a black dog or any sort of pet but I like to include the black poodle in there anyway. More picture updates to come soon!

My Christmas breaks growing up were spent with secular Brooklyn-Russian Jews because they made up most of my close friends at the time. I remember my best friend always had a “New Year Tree” next to her electric menorah which I thought was pretty funny. Anyway, I hope everyone is finding themselves jolly and in good company. I screen printed my “Gretel on Duck” painting! There are two versions, the one on the left without the black is the holiday version I made for friends only. If situation allows, I will be bringing them down to Baltimore and visit college friends around November/December. If not, I will be mailing them. Will YOU receive one?

Based on a true story!

I’ve been working on making a respectable portfolio but my embarrassing sense of humor keeps on getting in the way. Anyway, a high school friend told me about this experience he had in junior high. I enjoy drawing boy’s rooms.

This fall, I’ve been interning at an indie picture book publisher in Brooklyn. Mostly secretarial work, which makes me just HURTING to draw. This is good, because I’ve been on a weird melancholy non-productive trip since graduation. The colors are off in this scan, but I think I’ll let it be for now. Happy autumn!
